Hey, I’m camilla and this is Aki, my waggily tailed companion.

A little like myself, Off-Grid Organics may be small (in scale) but it has big ambitions!

In early Spring of this year I was really lucky to take stewardship of four and a half acres in the heart of Somerset through the Ecological Land Co-operative. So, leaving certain creature comforts behind, I upped sticks and moved off-grid. And I’ve been a very busy little bee since then, as I begin to turn this parcel of depleted pasture into productive growing spaces that are teeming with life.

Over the next few years I will be working to create: A one acre market garden, 2/3 of an acre mixed fruit orchard, and will dedicate large parts of the land to support wildlife and biodiversity. Including 1000 trees to replant an area of woodland and create a new native mixed species hedgerow, wildlife ponds and areas of wildflower meadow for habitat and permanent ground cover.

Our diversified market garden grows a variety of vibrant, nutrient dense vegetables and salad crops for its local community.

We are ‘no dig’ and Organic (in conversion) so we don’t use any synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Instead, we are working hard to encourage our beneficial ally insects, as natural predators for a more integrated approach to pest management

Healthy soil is key to growing healthy vegetables. So building rich, living soil is the foundation for creating and expanding our growing spaces.

As the farms name suggests, Off-Grid Organics is powered entirely by the sun (…and maybe the odd coffee!) We also don’t use any mechanised farm equipment so that we can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and your veg box can remain virtually carbon free :)
